Newtown, CT — On October 18, 2025, the Rotary Club of Newtown hosted its second annual Child Safety Car Seat Check as part of the Town’s annual Health Fair. The free event gave parents and caregivers the opportunity to have their car seats inspected by certified child passenger safety technicians from Yale New Haven Health, ensuring that every seat was properly installed and adjusted for the child’s size and age.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), nearly half of all car seats are installed incorrectly, reducing their effectiveness in a crash. Properly used child restraints can reduce the risk of serious injury by up to 71% for infants and 54% for toddlers.
During the event, technicians worked one-on-one with families, demonstrating correct installation techniques and answering safety questions.
“Helping parents make sure their children are safe on the road fits perfectly with Rotary’s mission of service and community well-being,” said the Rotary Club president, Jennifer Chaudhary. “Our goal is to make this annual event a trusted local resource for families.”
The Rotary Club plans to continue offering the Car Seat Check each year as part of its ongoing commitment to public safety and community service.
